The No-Nonsense Holosun HS403B (My Review)

Today I'm going to review the Holosun HS403b...

This is another winner from Holosun who are becoming famous...

...for making top teir optics that are still affordable in price.

And because of it's features, the 403b has to be one of the best red dot sights under 200 dollars.

And here's why:

Long Lasting Battery Life...

Here's the deal with the Holosun HS403b you get an amazing 50,000 hours of battery life.  That equates to about 5 years...

...and it means that you can leave this sight turned on for that whole time, and the battery will just keep on trucking. 

I don't really understand why anyone would consider a red dot that cost about the same price as the 403b or more but only has a few hundred hours of battery life. 

For me, this is a required feature because I like to have my red dot sights ready at all times, and the guys over at reddotshooters.com agree. 

Battery Changes Are EASY...

Now even though this sight has really long battery life, you will have to eventually change it out...

...the thing is, some sights, even from Holosun, are a pain in the neck in that regard. 

Here's the thing, the Holosun HS403b is actually and improvement over the HS403a...

You see, the problem with the 403a is that the battery can only be accessed if the sight is removed from it's mount. 

That means you're going to have to take the sight off of your gun to replace the battery, and it's a problem because you're going to lose zero when doing that. 

The great thing about the 403b is that Holosun changed the access point to the battery by putting a simple tray that you remove on the side of the sight. 

It means you can change out the battery when that time comes without the hassle of having to dismount the entire sight and go out to rezero it afterwards!

The HS403b Is Strong And Reliable...

I also like the 403b is waterproof...

It can handle being put underwater for 30 minutes at 1 meter...

...which is all I really want as a civilian gun owner...

I don't need to be able to SCUBA dive with my sight...

...but I do want it to handle things like rain or falling in a creek or puddle...

And the Holosun HS403b can do that without any issues. 

This Sight Also Comes With 2 Mounts...

Another great feature about this red dot sight and pretty much all Holosuns is that you get two mounts included.

When you get your HS403b it will come attached to a lower one third cowitness mount which makes it a great companion to an AR 15...

But, if you want to put it on something like a CZ Scorpion, a shotgun, an AK, or another platform in the box you'll find a low mount as well. 

It really is sometimes a pain to go out and find an mount that will fit your sight, and then pay extra money for it.

But that's not an issue with the 403b!

In Conclusion...

I think the Holosun HS403b is a fantastic red dot sight because you get 50,000 hours of battery life, a durable sight, and easy battery change, and you get 2 mounts included.

So I highly recommend it as one of the best red dot sights under 200 dollars out there today!
