The Legendary Aimpoint Micro T2 (My Review)
Aimpoint is a company with a rock solid reputation for
making premium red dots.
And the Aimpoint Micro T2 is probably their flagship model.
So let’s get into the review.
The Aimpoint’s Dot
Size and Reticle…
The Aimpoint Micro T2 comes with a 2 MOA dot reticle.
This is no different from many other red dot sights on the
market.
However, that doesn’t mean there is a problem because the
simple 2 MOA dot style reticle is a fantastic reticle for a red dot sight.
Now I do prefer a variation of a circle dot reticle, but I
don’t mind a 2 MOA dot reticle…
And like I’ve said before, 2 MOA is just the right size for
this type of sight picture in my humble opinion.
The Aimpoint’s
Ruggedness And Reliability…
The whole Aimpoint brand if famous for their sights
ruggedness and the reliability you get from their tough construction.
The Aimpoint Micro T-2 is no exception to this. It has
amazing reliability and is one of the toughest, if not the toughest red dot
sight on the market.
It’s so tough you can actually take it under water up to 80
feet! And I can’t think of any other red dot with that type of waterproofness.
The Aimpoint’s Lens
Clarity…
The Aimpoint Micro T-2 is known to have extremely clear
glass. It comes with lens coatings that give you a clear sight picture when
looking through the optic…
…and you don’t get any sort of blue tint either, like you do
with some cheaper red dots on the market.
The Aimpoint’s
Battery Life…
It uses one CR2032 battery, which can last you for up to
50,000 hours!
So there are a lot of guys out there that simple leave their
Aimpoints turned on all the time, and they pick one day every year to switch
out the battery.
Aside from that, the Micro T2 also has eight daylight
settings, four night vision settings, and one extra bright setting (great for
shooting in extremely bright conditions).
And the battery life when running on the nigh vision
settings can actually last for 500,000 hours!
The Aimpoint Micro
T-2’s Mounts…
There are some versions of the Aimpiont Micro T2 that come
with no mount. These versions will be least expensive.
However, there are versions that come with low mounts, high
mounts to co-witness with AR 15 sights, and quickly detachable mounts as well.
And there are a whole host of companies, some of them with
very high reputations, that make mounts to fit the Aimpoint Micro T2.
Daniel Defense is one that comes to mind for me, but there
are many, many others.
So, Is the Aimpoint
Micro T2 a Red Dot Sight Worth Buying…
The prices can range from 700 to 800 dollars, which is
extremely expensive.
But what you get is
tough as nails reliability to begin with. And many people won’t put a price on that.
But you also get the amazing lens clarity, the outstanding
battery life, and a clear 2 MOA dot reticle.
Not to mention the different daylight and night vision
brightness settings and the extra bright setting as well.
So in the end, I think the Aimpoint Micro T2 is the best reddot sight on the market currently, but you’re going to have to pay a high price
for it.
